In the 1980s, Bihar's medical facilities were so limited that heart patients had to travel to Vellore, Delhi, or Calcutta for treatment. Only the Indira Gandhi Institute of Cardiology (IGIC) offered secondary care for cardiac issues. Seeing the struggles of these patients, Dr. A.K. Thakur, then Director of IGIC, founded HEART HOSPITAL in Kankarbagh, Patna, on November 19, 1994—the first private cardiac hospital in Bihar.
Building on this foundation, Heart Hospital Multi-Specialities has been launched as a new venture under the strategic leadership of Dr. Kamini Jha, an economist. This hospital aims to carry forward Dr. A.K. Thakur's legacy by providing exceptional care across all specialties, extending the same dedication and excellence beyond cardiac care.
Heart Hospital Multispecialities is a multispeciality hospital focused on obstretics, gynaecology, surgery, pediatrics and general medicine. Initially focus will be on obstretics and gynaecology. It is a unit of a cardiac hospital, Heart Hospital Patna, that has a legacy of over 30 years.
